Functions of GAUV-5M

Generator of acoustic blast waves GAUV-5M is intended for running as a source of power electropulses while seeking fault points of cable lines (CL) when a break, “covered” disruptions and short circuits between conductors or between a conductor and a casing with transient resistance R>100 ohm.

The area of application of GAUV-5Mis power engineering, flaw detection of underground electrocables with the voltage of 6-10 kV using an acoustic method.

Technical Data of Gauv-5M

  1. Power supply parameters:
    • rated voltage of control circuits is single-phase, 220V, 50Hz;
    • power consumption of control circuits is about 200watt;
    • capacity of a charger is some 2kwatt.
  2. Operating modes are manual, automated with the pulse repetition rate is 0.5Hz.
  3. A maximal blast energy of one pulse is 2500J.
  4. Duration of continued operation at maximal blast energy of a pulse is 20min, a pause is 20 min.
  5. Overall dimensions of GAUV-5M are 520х400х600 mm.
  6. The weight of the device is 60 kg.
  7. A control panel is portable.

    Equipment of GAUV-5M. Running description of the basic electrical circuit of the generator.

    GAUV-5M consists of GAUV-5M generator and a portable control panel.

    The generator contains::

    • o capacitive storage devices C1, C2 for 20 kV;
    • o electromechanical discharger RS1;
    • o protector gap RS2;
    • o short SA1;
    • o electromagnets KM1, KM2;
    • o a portable panel with a control and automated mechanisms circuit. (The basic electrical circuit of the generator is on pic. 2) is not a part of the delivery set.

    When switching on a toggle switch "Circuit" of the control panel electromagnets KM1 of electrical discharger RS1 and electromagnets KM2 of short SA1 that disconnects a clamp "Out" of GAUV with a clamp "Working earthing" are activated. At that a light diode S lights up on the toggle switch "Circuit".

    For operating generator modes "manual" or "automatic" the toggle switch "Manual-Auto" is used. When the toggle switch is in the "Manual" mode, it’s necessary to press the button "Start" on the portable control panel for the electrical discharger operation. When the toggle switch is in the "Auto" mode then the electrical discharger operation is run automatically with the frequency of 0.5 HZ.

    GAUV is equipped with the system of the storage capacitor protection against overvoltage. It’s the function of protector gap RS2.
